Working on the County Board for Southwest Minneapolis and St. Louis Park

Dear Friends,

For the past 11 years, I have been honored to serve as your County Commissioner, representing southwest Minneapolis and St. Louis Park. I’ve had the privilege of working with many of you to deliver real results for our communities – implementing our plan to end homelessness, planning a transit system for the future,  building healthy communities, providing access to services for people in need, and working on many more initiatives that help make Hennepin County a great place to live, work, and play.

Next Tuesday November 2nd is Election Day! I’ve been honored to have your support in the past and I humbly ask for your vote this Election Day.

My opponent has waged an aggressive self-financed campaign. He does not represent the progressive values of this district. He wrote on his Star Tribune candidate profile that he’s about the makers, not the takers. He supports public funding for a new Vikings Stadium and says the County should not be in the business of ending homelessness. He makes promises but is accountable to no one.

I’ve campaigned hard, taking no vote for granted. I dug out the yard signs in my garage, and with the help of many wonderful volunteers, put them up all over the 3rddistrict. I've door-knocked, lit dropped, and talked with many of you. Thank you to everyone who has supported me this election season, offered your address for my sign, and worked on my campaign.

Transit isn’t built overnight. Our plan to end homelessness is a ten year plan. Mental health reform, juvenile justice reform, building healthy communities – we have more work to do. These are big projects, important initiatives, and these are difficult times in politics and in government.

We face significant challenges at the county level, challenges that will take hard work, experience, an understanding of our community, and fierce determination to overcome. I do not run from these challenges, but am more committed than ever to continue the work we've begun, to see it through. I ask for your vote on November 2nd so we can continue this work together.

Thanks for all your support.
